Heads up on the laser cutter make sure your board is even, no bowing or big difference with the plastic..... mine faded in the etching in one part due to one of those issues they think....
This sounds cool. I like that you're thinking about combining CNC and laser cut pieces. Have you thought about how these pieces will be lit/how you are attaching a light inside? You could do something creative with how the light hits the lyrics.

You should start designing the piece to enclose the light, like Joanna mentioned, and it could be neat to play with color by using either films in between layers or using different colored lights. Could have an interesting effect where the different colors mix too.
