What do the words "presentation", "representation" mean to you

PRESENTATION VS. REPRESENTATION

"Humans are useless in the presentation form and Computers are useless in the representation form."

I believer there is some truth to that yet, disagree with it as well. What we want to represent: what media, what we want to get across, how we go about doing it cant be developed from a computers end, however, a computer can very much inspire us and change our development of an original idea. What we present however, is finalized. I don't think that means the computer is in full control. I believe that we still have the opportunity in manipulating our outcomes and last min... maybe we through in a mixed media element what is it projected or printed on to? Is it interactive? I think society needs to realize both computer and ourselves play a vital role, hand in hand in our outcomes and our destinies of what a computer can do for us, and for technology.

Representation: Something that takes the place of something; being present in a certain place and time. EXAMPLE: Say i worked at a firm and there was a meeting. Only I went there; I would be represent the company, therefor I'm their representation

ALLISON BELL

Allison Bell started with silk painting as her medium. However over time, she didn’t find it as artistically rewarding and it became limiting to her. On impulse she bought a more digital medium to act as her sketchbook. That purchase spurred the 3D tablet purchase sing a mouse is also limiting. She described it as working with infinity and working with it in stretching and expanding the piece slowly. She doesn’t over do it however; she intentionally limits herself to two to three digital tools, mostly Photoshop.

Allison, much like the some of the classmates for the post card project, plays with her medium. She tries things our and then decides if she likes it based on how it looks. She makes judgments on the outcome of whether or not it will fit with her piece. She’s constantly curious about new outcomes, if she does this or that, what will happen. Allison will do that for hours on end until she finds her perfect fit. Then she takes puts it on a CD and gets it digitally printed. She says she’s always pleasantly surprised when she gets in back form the printer because its never exactly how she saw in on her screen. If it were me however, I would feel very irritated. That’s the issue where printers are at in this day and age, however, pleasant for some and irritating for others.
